Calisthenics is a team-based sport that offers a unique combination of dancing, singing, gymnastics and technical skill, and develops strong, confident leaders through friendship and teamwork.

Beejay’s Calisthenics Club was established in 2010 by Belinda “BJ” Dwyer with the help of her supportive family. Now entering our 14th year of operation, we are a Werribee-based, family-oriented club run by a diverse committee and experienced coaches who provide a fun and friendly environment for girls, boys and women to enjoy the sport of calisthenics. We cater to beginners through to experienced performers, and have classes for children, teens and adults.

Your first two classes are free, so come along and give it a go!

Belinda Dwyer Level 1 Coach

Belinda “BJ” Dwyer started competing in calisthenics at the age of 8 at Albion, where she became a Level 1 Coach at the age of 18.

Belinda founded our club in 2010 with the help of her supportive family – including her cals family, Sharon, Tracey and her sister Ebony. She has coached across all age groups over the years, and is currently working with the Tinies and Subbies sections.

I love watching the pupils develop their skills and improve every week,” says Belinda. “As well as seeing their love and passion of the sport I have dedicated my life to.”

Ebony Egan Level 1 Coach

Ebony has been a calisthenics girl since the age of 6. She started assisting and training to be a coach 13 years ago, and has been a Level 1 coach for quite some time. Ebony has coached our Inters team and is now coaching the Seniors and Masters teams. She has also previously coached Juniors. She has a daughter who is currently having a blast in Subbies and twins Eliza and Phillip. Eliza is enjoying her time in Tinies.

“I love seeing the girls push their limits to learn more and improve their skills,” Ebony says. “Seeing them shine on stage, and come off stage smiling because they’ve worked hard, is awesome!”

Ebony was a finalist for the 2019 Victorian Calisthenics Coaches Association (VCCA) Coach Of The Year Award.

Sharon Naris Level 1 Coach

Sharon started calisthenics as a sub-junior at Albion, continuing to juniors. After 20 years away, she returned as a Senior when her oldest daughter started at Altona, where she met Ebony and Belinda and followed them to Bellarine. Sharon was one of the teammates who convinced Belinda to found her own club, becoming a Level 1 Coach with Beejay’s herself 5 years ago.

Sharon, who has coached Subbies and Juniors, says, “I love the friendships I have made over the years and love seeing how pupils progress and improve their skills.” Sharon also competes in our Masters section and assists with the Seniors team. She has recently taken on the role of club secretary and assists with the making of costumes.
